How to Pray for Haiti

On Sunday, February 28, I’ll be leaving for a missions trip to Haiti with other Harvest Bible Chapel Pastors. God is very much at work in Haiti, and the purpose of the trip is for us to see what opportunities he might have for us to join in this work on a long-term basis.

I believe God is opening this door for us in Haiti at a critical time. Gospel-preaching churches are being planted and growing numbers of people are surrendering their lives to Christ, and this is only the beginning of what God is doing. The power of Jesus is breaking through the strongholds of the enemy, and there could be great opportunity for us to see for ourselves how lives are being transformed in Haiti.

So, because the time is favourable and the stakes are high, please pray with me for the following in preparation for this trip:

  • pray for revival in Haiti (Psalm 85:6-9);
  • pray for many future opportunities for us to take the gospel to Haiti;
  • pray for the 16% of Haitians who are evangelical Christians, many of whom are determined to stand against the false religion of voodooism and the spiritual forces behind it through their efforts in prayer and evangelism;
  • pray for our spiritual protection during this trip; the activity of the enemy and his demons is often more overt and present in Haiti through voodooism; pray for God to open doors for us to shine the light of the gospel in a dark and spiritually oppressed country;
  • pray for the current Harvest Bible Chapels in Haiti:
    • Harvest Jacmel (Pastor Abraham Comper)
    • Harvest Maplat (Pastor Nego Pierre Louis)
    • Harvest Cap Rouge (Pastor Antoine Sainvil)
    • Harvest Montagne LaVoute (Pastor Renel)

“Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak” (Ephesians 6:18-20).
